Switched /WhereIveBeen to use Google Maps

I noticed last week that my WhereIveBeen page was showing a big blank square instead of a map of everywhere I've ever been. Apparently I didn't get the memo that Microsoft Virtual Earth had updated their API and, after a few months, discontinued support for the old one I was still using. I discovered that Google had updated their maps API, too.

So, I gave in to the popup-balloon-with-drop-shadow envy that had been nagging at me for months. Now www.joshchristie.com/whereivebeen/ displays everywhere I've ever been (actually, just those places I've entered so far) using Google Maps instead of Virtual Earth. Overall, the maps and the APIs are pretty similar, but that popup feature won me over.

I hope you enjoy clicking locations and seeing more info load in the popup balloons. There's some AJAX goodness at work there, but unfortunately it's only half enough to quality my site as a Web 2.0 company.

UPDATE: I just discovered the popup balloons don't load location details if you're using IE7. I'll have to check into that, so just stick with IE6 and FireFox 1.5 in the meantime.
