Password Safe

Now that every online merchant wants to you create an account on their site, we all need a good way to organize those usernames and passwords. I set out to write my own program to do this about a year ago, but before I got too far I came across Password Safe. Password Safe is a free program that stores all your usernames and passwords in an encrypted database that you unlock with a single master password. I use it all the time and I highly recommend it.

Password Safe was originally written by Bruce Schneier of Counterpane Labs, but is now maintained as an open source project on Sourceforge. Personally, I still use Bruce's last released version (1.7.1) because the newer open source versions look uglier to me and, besides, I have not encountered any bugs in 1.7.1.

Download Password Safe 1.7.1 here (the version I use and recommend)
